About the Role

● The Intern Coordinator will recruit, hire, and plan weekly events for MRC’s Youth, Education, and Internship Program (YEIP) for the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters.
● Interns will be hired across the MRC for NewsBusters, MRCTV, CNSNews, MRC Free Speech America, External Affairs, Legal Fellows, Development, Marketing, and Press.

Duties & Responsibilities:

● Recruit new internship and fellow applicants by tabling at events,promoting the program within conservative circles, and working with marketing to broadly advertise MRC’s internships
● Interview all first-round candidates and recommend to the appropriate team (NewsBusters, MRCTV, Marketing, etc.)
● Plan intern training sessions, workshops, and guest lectures at the MRC
● Plan educational field trips for interns and fellows to D.C. area locations
● Handle onboarding of interns to include: assigning seating, working with IT and supervisors to make sure their computers and software are ready, providing welcome packets, collecting intern testimonials, sending weekly schedules to supervisors, and approving timesheets and reimbursements
● Outreach to conservative colleges to establish strategic relationships
● Ensure performance reviews and intern portfolios are completed by each intern
● Provide text and stats for the annual intern yearbook
● Assist MRC receptionist with incoming phone calls
● Train select interns on the phones to fill-in during lunch hours
● Host yearly intern alumni networking event with current and former MRC interns

Required Experience & Education:

● Bachelor's Degree preferred, plus 2+ years overseeing interns and/or volunteers.

● Commitment to Conservative Principles – Candidates must be a dedicated conservative with a passion for media bias and free speech. They must understand key conservative values and embrace the mission of the MRC.
● Experience in the Conservative Movement - Candidates must have a basic understanding of and dedication to the conservative movement, including networking events, key players, and key allies.
● Personable and experienced overseeing interns or volunteers - Candidates should be a people-person and prepared to attend events to recruit interns.
