MRC Through the Generations
From its founding, James L. Kirby Jr. was a steadfast supporter of the Media Research Center, sharing a deep friendship with MRC’s founder, Brent Bozell. They shared a commitment to combating media bias, a passion reflected in their many correspondences over the years.
Mr. Kirby was a true American hero, serving in World War II, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge, and earning a Bronze Star for his bravery. His dedication to preserving truth and freedom extended beyond his military service — his legacy continues through his family’s unwavering support of the MRC.
His three children, Wade, Roger, and Annette, have honored his memory by naming the MRC Youth Education and Internship Program after him. Among the intern alumni are two of his grandsons, Taylor and Reade, who participated in our internship program during the summer of 2017.
For years, the Kirby family has stood by the MRC, attending events, MRC cruises, and our DisHonors Awards, exemplifying a remarkable legacy of three generations committed to our mission. The Kirby family’s enduring support — generational giving — is a testament to the power of passing down values and principles — ensuring that the fight for media accountability continues.
